Uric Acid
Test
Uric Acid
Uric Acid The amount of uric acid in your blood is determined by a uric acid blood test, often known as a serum uric acid measurement. The test can reveal how well your body creates and eliminates uric acid. Uric acid is a chemical that is formed when your body breaks down foods that contain purines, which are organic substances.
A majority of uric acid is dissolved in the blood, filtered by the kidneys, and then excreted through the urine. The body can manufacture too much uric acid or not filter it out enough at times. Hyperuricemia is the term for a condition in which your body produces too much uric acid.
