Triiodothyronine Free (FT3)
Test
Triiodothyronine Free (FT3)
The level of T3 in the blood is measured by a free Triiodothyronine test. T3 levels in the blood are higher or lower due to insufficient or unregulated hormone synthesis by the thyroid gland due to thyroid or pituitary malfunction.
T3 levels in the blood are high, resulting in hyperthyroidism symptoms such as:
- Nervousness
- Parkinson’s disease is characterised by hand tremors, which are a common symptom.
- Weight loss
- Insomnia
- Puffiness around irritated, dry eyes
A small needle is used to collect a blood sample from a vein by a healthcare provider. Once the needle is placed, a little quantity of blood will be collected in a test tube or vial. It normally takes less than five minutes to finish this task.
