Test

Prothrombin Time (PT)

The Prothrombin Time (PT) test is performed to evaluate the time taken by your blood plasma to clot. Prothrombin is a type of blood plasma that is responsible for clotting. This test also diagnoses a bleeding disorder known as Hemophilia.

Some of the symptoms of Hemophilia include:

  • Excessive bleeding that does not stop even after application of pressure
  • Frequent bruising
  • Blood in the urine
  • A heavy flow of blood during menstruation
  • Nose bleeds
  • Painful joints with swelling

Moreover, if there is the consumption of blood-thinning medication, this test will be ordered to diagnose or rule out Hemophilia.

No prior preparations are required as it is a simple blood test.
