Luteinising Hormone
Test
Luteinising Hormone (LH)
The LH blood test measures the amount of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) in an individual’s blood. LH is a hormone released by the pituitary gland and is crucial for reproductive systems. LH helps maintain a healthy reproductive system, specifically, a woman’s ovaries and a man’s testes. Although an LH blood test can be a routine test included in fertility evaluation, doctors may recommend this test for various reasons:
- To pinpoint the fertility window or the peak time when the ovary releases an egg
- To check problems related to late puberty in children
- To check problems related to low testosterone and low muscle mass in men
