Lipase

Test

Lipase

A lipase test or a serum lipase test measures a lipase protein in an individual’s bloodstream. Lipase is animportant protein that helps your body absorb fats.

The pancreas releases this protein, and when the pancreas is inflamed or injured, it releases more lipase than usual. Thus, a doctor may prescribe a lipase test to evaluate the health of your pancreas, mainly conditions like pancreatitis.

Test

Lipase - Urine

Similar to the serum lipase test, this test is also used to measure lipase levels in a person’s body.

However, the only difference is that a urine sample is analyzed instead of blood.
