Insulin-Post Prandial

Test

Insulin-Post Prandial

This test measures Insulin levels in the blood after 2 hours of eating food. The hormone Insulin is produced by the beta cells of the pancreas, which promote the absorption of glucose (sugar) from the bloodstream into the body cells. The cells use this glucose to produce energy, which the body utilizes.

A doctor may recommend an insulin-post prandial test if the patient is suffering from symptoms like frequent urination, hunger, blurred vision, fatigue, dry mouth, impaired wound healing, etc., which are common symptoms of Diabetes mellitus. Another major reason to conduct this test is to find whether an individual has insulin resistance.
