Glucose-Blood
Test
Glucose-Blood
A Glucose Blood test measures the amount of glucose present in your blood. These tests are used to diagnose diabetes.
You must get a glucose test done to ensure your blood glucose level is healthy and it does not affect other organs of your body like kidneys, liver, etc.
Test
Glucose Challenge Test
A Glucose Challenge Test (GCT) analyzes the body’s response to glucose. It is also called a one-hourglucose tolerance test.
This test is performed for pregnant women to prevent or rule out gestational diabetes.
Glucose-Blood Tests
Fasting
For Glucose Blood Test (Fasting), you have to fast for 8-12 hours before the test. These tests are
scheduled early in the morning, with the fasting period being overnight. You are only allowed to
drink water in the fasting span.
Postprandial(PP)
Postprandial (PP) blood glucose test is used as a screening stage for prediabetes, Type 1 and Type 2
diabetes. This test is performed 2 hours from the start of your last meal. It checks how your body
responds to the sugar and starch you consume in your meals.
Random
A Random Blood Glucose test is performed randomly, without any preparations or precautions. This
test measures the glucose levels at a random time, observing the level of variation.
Glucose Challenge Tests
Glucose-Fluid
The Glucose Fluid test measures the level of glucose in your body fluids like the CSF.
Glucose-Urine-Postprandial (PP)
For this test, the urine sample is obtained 2-hours from the start of the last meal.
Glucose-Urine-Random
No prior preparation is required. The urine sample is taken randomly to measure abnormally high
sugar levels in the urine.
Glucose-Urine Fasting
Glucose levels from urine are measured when the individual’s blood cannot be drawn due to small veins. The Glucose Urine test measures the amount of sugar in the urine sample (glycosuria). For this test, you have to fast for 8-12 hours before the test.
