Gamma Glutamyl Transferase
Test
Gamma Glutamyl Transferase
A Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) measures the level of GGT in the blood. GGT is an enzyme that is found in the liver. It leaks into the bloodstream if there are damages to the liver. The presence of high levels of GGT indicates liver diseases.
The test is required to:
- Diagnose liver diseases
- Identify Bile Duct Blockages
- Determine whether a bone disorder is a cause for the damage
- Monitor alcohol abuse
If you have symptoms like fatigue, nausea, weakness, jaundice, or loss of appetite, this test isrecommended. No prior preparations are required. A blood sample is taken for the test.
