Dengue
Test
Dengue - NS1 Antigen, Dengue IgG Antibody, Dengue IgM Antibody
The Dengue Antigen NS1, IgG, and IgM tests measure the dengue virus or the antibodies produced to fight the virus. This test is performed if you have a fever after traveling to a tropical or subtropical area where dengue is excessive or has a dengue-endemic.
For this test, no prior preparation is required. A sample of your blood is obtained and tested for dengue.
The detection of each antibody indicates the following:
- IgM – Primary Dengue
- IgG and IgM – Early Secondary Dengue or Late Primary
- IgG – Past Dengue of Secondary Dengue
In the first 5-days of fever, getting an NS1 Antigen test is advisable. If the fever prolongs to 7-10 days, the Dengue Antibody tests should be done.
