Cortisol Serum (7 to 9 AM)
The cortisol test is done to determine the level of cortisol in the blood. Cushing’s syndrome and Addison&’s disease can be diagnosed through this test. This is an early morning test. In the early morning, cortisol levels are high and decrease slowly till midnight.
The test is done by drawing blood between 7 to 9 AM during the morning. The normal cortisol value in the morning ranges between 6 and 23 mcg/dL. Higher levels of cortisol are signs of Cushing’s syndrome.

Cortisol Serum (3 to 5 PM)
The Cortisol test is done twice a day: in the morning between 7 to 9 AM and the evening between 3 to 5 PM. Cortisol level is lower in the evening. During the evening, the normal cortisol levels range from 3 to 10 mcg/dL.
