Blood Picture - Peripheral Smear Examination

The Peripheral Smear Examination test inspects the varied components of the blood. The smear assesses the red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and other abnormalities like the presence of parasites. This test is prescribed to diagnose the reason for unexplained jaundice, anemia, fever, and several susceptible infections.

The health worker collects the sample from the arm. To take the blood sample, a tourniquet band is fastened tightly along the circumference of the upper arm. After disinfecting the area, the needle is injected into the veins, and the blood sample is accumulated in the vacutainer to check for abnormalities.
