AFB Stain (ZN Stain)

Test

AFB Stain (ZN Stain)

An acid-fast stain (ZN stain) test is a microscopic examination of a person’s body fluids that are stained to detect acid-fast bacteria.

This test is used to diagnose active M. tuberculosis infections and non-tuberculous mycobacteria.

AFB Stain (ZN Stain) Tests

AFB Stain (ZN stain)-Ascitic Fluid

It is performed on a patient's ascitic fluid caused by excessive fluid build-up in the abdomen, called Ascites.

AFB Stain (ZN stain)-Bronchial Fluid

It is performed on a patient's bronchial fluid, which usually builds up in the lungs due to medical conditions like pulmonary edema.

AFB Stain (ZN stain)-Miscellaneous

Miscellaneous AFB stain tests are performed to analyze the progress of tubercular patients on therapy.

AFB Stain (ZN stain)-others

Other AFB stain tests include testing other body fluids such as urine, ET secretion, pus, sputum, etc.

AFB Stain (ZN stain)-Pericardial Fluid

It is performed on the patient's pericardial fluid, which accumulates in the pericardium sac of the heart.

AFB Stain (ZN stain)-Peritoneal Fluid

It is performed on the patient's peritoneal fluid. A liquid is present in the abdominal cavity.

AFB Stain (ZN stain)-Pleural Fluid

It is performed on the patient's pleural fluid, which builds up between the layers of the pleura in the lungs.

AFB Stain (ZN stain)-Synovial Fluid

It is performed on the patient's synovial fluid, a viscous fluid present in the cavities of the synovial joint.
