Testosterone is a sex hormone that is responsible for various changes during puberty in males. It is present in women as well but in a lesser amount. The Testosterone Level test measures the level of testosterone in the blood. This test measures free testosterone as well. Free testosterones are not attached to a protein.
A Testosterone Level Test (Total) is used to diagnose the following:
- Infertility
- Tumors in Testicles of men
- Erectile dysfunction
- Decreased sex drive
- Early or delayed puberty in boys
- Irregular menstruation in women
- Development of masculine features like excess body hair in women
This test does not require prior preparations as it is a simple blood test.
