Retic Count
A Reticulocyte Count Test is performed to measure the levels of reticulocytes in your blood. Reticulocytes are immature red blood cells released by your body to balance the levels of new red blood cells produced.
This test is used for the following reasons:
- Monitor Bone Marrow functioning – to know whether the bone marrow is producing RBCs
- Diagnose different types of Anemia
- Differentiate between types of Anemia
- Monitor progress after treatments like chemotherapy, radiation therapy, bone marrow
transplant, etc.
No prior preparations are required. A sample of blood will be drawn from your veins for the test.
