Complement Component 3 & 4
Test
Complement Component 3 (C3)
A complement C3 test is performed on blood to diagnose the activity of particular proteins. About a total of 60 proteins constitute the complement system.
These proteins are the building blocks of the human body that protect the body from infections and other microscopic invaders. Rarely, there appears some absence of some complement proteins in certain individuals.
Test
Complement Component 4 (C4)
Similar to the C3 test, C4 is also the test related to the complement system. Abnormal C4 levels lead to the systemic-lupus-erythematosus (SLE), simply called lupus.
These tests are accompanied by a total complement activity test (CH50) to measure all the nine constituents, C1 to C9.
