Bence Jones Protein (BJ Protein)

Test

Bence Jones Protein (BJ Protein)

This test measures the presence of Bence Jones protein in a person’s urine sample. This particular protein is a building block of antibodies produced by cancerous tumors.

Therefore, the BJ protein test is one of the several tests used to diagnose a type of blood cancer known as multiple myeloma.

Bence Jones Protein Tests

Beta -HCG-Free - Serum

The beta HCG-free test is used to detect the presence of the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin hormone in the blood sample of a woman. This hormone is produced by the placenta during pregnancy, thusmaking it a useful pregnancy test. This HCF test forms the basis of the pregnancy testing kits available in pharmacies. Apart from evaluating pregnancy, the beta-hCG test can also be used during evaluations of fertility treatments.

Beta-Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Hormone

The placenta produces this hormone during pregnancy. Since the hormone is released in the bloodstream and urine ten days post-conception, an above-normal level can confirm pregnancy.
